Place of supply rules
It is important to identify the “place of supply” for both goods and services in order to establish where and how VAT should be accounted for.
The rules are complex and will have limited relevance to most charities – although their impact can be high when they are.
For further information see HMRC VAT Notice 741A: place of supply of services and HMRC’s Place of Supply VAT Manual.
