Spending Round/Queen’s Speech updates
The Chancellor has confirmed that the Spending Round will be delivered on Wednesday 4 September, 2019 during a statement to Parliament. The Spending Round will set departmental budgets for 2020/21.
In 2020 a full Spending Review will be held, reviewing public spending in the round and setting multi-year budgets. Capital budgets, used for long-term projects such as infrastructure, are already in place for 2020/21. Read more here.
The Prime Minister has spoken to Her Majesty The Queen to request an end to the current parliamentary session in the second sitting week in September. Following the conclusion of the party conference season, the second session of this Parliament will commence with a Queen’s Speech on Monday 14 October. Read more here.
